Join My Author Discord, Vote in the Indie Ink Awards, and More

Dear readers,

I hope you are enjoying the holiday season! I certainly am. I will have two weeks and half off my day job starting this Thursday and can't wait to do absolutely nothing.

This is, of course, a lie. I won't do nothing. But I'll do less than usual, which means I will not start writing a new book, and will only edit one I've already drafted, which shouldn't take me more than a few days. The rest of my free time will be dedicated to reading and playing video games (either Hades II, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, or Monster Hunter Wilds; or all of them).

Looking forward to it.

Join the Discord Server!

I recently launched my author Discord server and invited ARC readers of The Seventh Sister. As a newsletter subscriber, you are also welcome to join. It's new and I'm still figuring out how to use it, so don't be shy and jump in and help me make this server a fun place to talk about my books!

Vote For My Books In The Indie Ink Awards!

My three books that released this year all got nominated for the Indie Ink Awards. To everyone who nominated them: thank you!

Now comes the time to vote for them (again), so they make it to the top 10 of the categories they're nominated in, which means they become finalists and can be assessed by judges.

Since you can only vote for one book per category, and in some categories two or three of my books are nominated, you will have to choose which one you pick.

My ask is this: when several of my books are nominated in the same category, please vote for A Legacy of Blood and Bone (unless you really, really believe Bright City, Shattered or Daughters of the Blue Moon deserve this vote more). In categories where only one of my books is nominated, then it's easy: vote for that one :)

To vote, you need an Indie Story Geek account (it's free!), then you can find all the categories on this page (I've also linked the relevant ones below).

More Character Art!

Who doesn't like character art? I worked with hajima_7 once more for two illustrations for The Seventh Sister, my horror fantasy novella coming out in March, and one of Damarisse from A Legacy of Blood and Bone. Enjoy!

(We couldn't decide on the color palette for one of the illustrations, so she just sent me both!)

Miscellaneous Writing News

• I have received feedback from two of my beta readers for Nightbloom, my sci-fi novella WIP. I have not looked at it yet. My plan is to review the feedback and make relevant revisions during my two-weeks-and-a-half break, so I can send the manuscript to my agent by the end of the month.

• It's a bit of a semi-secret, but The Color of Time is available on Netgalley. We aren't promoting it more for now and we will do a wider push in the new year. I don't control who gets approved or not (this is managed by my publisher) but if you know where to look, you can request a copy and perhaps read it before the release... 😉

• Talking about The Color of Time, we're done with developmental and line edits, and the manuscript just went to the copy editor today. We expect to have the final manuscript ready by the end of January. As for the cover, it's also making great progress under the care of the talented Alyssa Winans. I can't wait to share it with you. It's going to be amazingly good.

That's it for today. Thank you for reading and for supporting my writing.

Dear readers, I hope you're having a great summer and a better weekend than mine. At the time I'm writing these words, my cat Maui is hospitalized in the ICU of my local ER vet clinic. He's dealing with a sudden, very bad bout of feline pancreatitis and his prognosis is guarded; it's a day by day assessment. He's been stable and pushing through it so far, so fingers crossed he gets better with supportive care and time. But he's very sick, so my spouse and I are readying ourselves for the...
